Sheikh Zayed, the beloved Founding Father of the United Arab Emirates, would have been the ideal person to explain to the world the value that environmental preservation holds for his nation. To achieve precisely that, COP28 UAE ‘brought him to life’ on Friday.
The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is shown utilizing 3D holographic technology to great effect as he takes the stage to address the monarchs, presidents, prime ministers, and influential people assembled at Expo City Dubai for COP28.
He greeted the delegates to the climate summit and their “second homeland” by addressing them as “your majesties, your excellencies, your highnesses”.
Whether Sheikh Zayed’s Arabic speech was modeled after a previous speech he had given was not immediately apparent. On the other hand, the statement encapsulated the Founding Fathers’ goals for the environment and reforesting the desert.
He talked about how the Emirati way of life has always included sustainability.
“Environment conservation and preservation is not a catchphrase or a logo for us in the UAE. As a history, a culture, and a legacy, it truly is an integral part of who we are. The coexistence of environment and humans is something we have always been devoted to and will continue to be,” he declared.
