In anticipation of New Year’s Eve, the Sharjah Police in the UAE have increased their security measures, following an announcement that fireworks and celebratory events are banned in the emirate this year. This decision reflects a gesture of solidarity with the people of Gaza amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has resulted in significant loss of life.
To enforce this ban and ensure public safety, the Sharjah Police have deployed a substantial force, including 362 military and civilian patrols, along with 933 police officers across various areas. The police force is urging cooperation from both individuals and institutions to adhere to the ban, warning that legal actions will be taken against any violations, although specific penalties have not been detailed.
The police force is dedicated to providing support and response to the public, ensuring compliance with the regulations and instructions. They are also encouraging the public to collaborate with police agencies to bolster public security and to report any instances of non-compliance.
