Saudi Arabia Investing $3.86bln On Research

As per General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), The number of workers in the research and development field reached around 30,220, whereas the number of researchers registered during 2021 reached about 24,808. The General Authority for Statistics confirmed that the total expenses on research and development in Saudi Arabia amounted to SR14.5 billion in 2021.

The authority released Wednesday the research and development statistics published in 2021. 

The publication stated that the number of employees in this field came to 30,220, whereby the number of researchers registered during 2021 reached 24 808.

According to the report, the government registered the highest percentage of its total expenses on research and development, followed by 35 percent in the private sector. 

Apart from that, the education sector also spent 15 percent of its total expenses on research and development and recorded the highest percentage of employees in the field of research and development, which almost reached 25,178 or around 83 percent in total. 

As per the published reports of 2021, the government registered 2,967 employees, or 10 percent of the total workers, whereas the private sector ranked last with 2,075 employees, which can calculate at 7 percent.

Conclusion 

The report mentioned above derives the statement published by the General Authority of Statistics in 2021 and registers the number of employers working in the field of research and development. It compares the amount spent on research and development in Saudi Arabia.
