Targeting the Iran-backed Houthi militia that began attacking foreign shipping in the Red Sea at the end of last year, the United States and British launched a series of strikes on Yemen on Thursday.
Nasser Kannani, spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry:
“These assaults constitute a blatant transgression of international law as well as Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. These assaults will only exacerbate the region’s already existing instability and insecurity. A statement from the Hezbollah group, backed by Iran:
“The American aggression confirms once again that the US is a full partner in the tragedies and massacres committed by the Zionist enemy in Gaza and the region.”
In a statement, the foreign ministry of Saudi Arabia called for moderation and “avoiding escalation” following the strikes and declared that it was keeping an eye on the circumstances.
