Unlocking Opportunities: Study Leave Benefits for Private Sector Employees in the UAE

Private Sector Employees

Private sector employees in the UAE are allowed a paid leave of 10 days per year to sit for examinations. 

According to the official website u.ae of the UAE, such study leave applies only to employees who have completed at least two years of service with an employer. 

The website stated, ” an employee studying in one of the educational institutions if the UAE is allowed for paid leave of 10 days per year to ain’t for examinations. One should complete at least two years of service with the employer to apply for this leave. 

Apart from the annual leave, private sector employers can also take paid bereavement leave for five days in case of the death of a spouse and three days in case of the end of a parent, sibling, child, grandparent, or grandchild. 

For female employees, 60 days of maternity leave are available. Of this, 45 days will be fully-paid, and 15 days will be half-paid. 

Besides the basic maternity leave, as stated above, the employee may take additional 45 days without pay if she has an illness due to pregnancy or childbirth and cannot resume work. However, the illness should be priced through a medical certificate issued by the respective medical authority.
