On New Year's Day, Sharjah announces free public parking.

In honor of the New Year, the Sharjah Municipality is offering free public parking. Residents of Sharjah City will have a parking fee exemption starting on Monday, January 1, 2024. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 is the scheduled return date of the regular pay parking system.

Owners of vehicles must be aware that the seven-day paid public parking zones—which are designated by blue parking information signs and are open seven days a week, including official holidays—are not covered by this exemption. On Sunday, though, standard parking costs will be in effect.

The Civic Authority states that there is a Dh150 charge for parking violations throughout the emirate. If you remain after the allotted period, you will be fined Dh100. Parking in designated areas, such as those designated for drivers with impairments, is a severe infraction that carries a Dh1,000 punishment.

Additionally, free parking is being offered by the authorities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi during the New Year’s festivities.
