RIYADH: Noor Riyadh’s beauty has been its ability to bring art to the Saudi people as well as the city of Riyadh and its many districts and neighborhoods, from its first presentation in 2021 during the COVID-19 epidemic.
Throughout Riyadh, large-scale art works created by artists from Saudi Arabia, the wider Middle East, and throughout the globe are on display as part of the festival. Taking in the illumination of these works of art at night opens up fresh perspectives on the Saudi capital, its neighborhoods and monuments—many of which the viewer was unaware even existed—and introduces them to new artists, ideologies, and cultural practices.
According to its directors and curators, Noor Riyadh’s strength is its capacity to bring people together from all walks of life in the city through enticing specifically commissioned artworks.
Miguel Blanco-Carrasco, an advisor to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City and Riyadh Art, told Arab News that one of the festival’s main goals is to present it throughout the entire city of Riyadh.
Our viewership is quite varied. Our target audience includes both individuals who would not often attend an art show and museum visitors with a strong interest in art.
