We recently had the pleasure of having a conversation with Yunche Wilson, Founder and CEO of MedxBay, an AI-enabled healthcare platform that revolutionizes both provider workflows and patient care. With over 18 years in Management Consultancy, Yunche specializes in B2B marketing, business development, and GTM strategy.

Spark Behind The Journey
We started the interview by asking, “What motivated you to enter your current field of work, and can you share some of the key milestones in your journey?”
Yunche shared, “My career background is in management consulting with a specialty in marketing and strategy but my journey with health started over a decade ago. I was 5 months pregnant with my second daughter and I was getting ready for work one morning when everything on the left side of my body started going numb.
I was only 28 years old at the time. My very active baby stopped moving in my stomach, the numbing pain got worse and I started to collapse. Thankfully, my husband had just walked in from working an overnight shift and immediately sprung into action. He picked me up and rushed me to the emergency room where they spent the next 2 hours running every test on me.”
She added, “I remember laying there, scared, thinking that my baby had died. Finally, a neurologist came in and said ‘I don’t know what you are doing, but whatever it is, you need to stop.’ He went on to explain that I had just experienced a mock stroke due to the high levels of stress in my life. Thankfully, my baby was fine but when she was born, she bore the epigenetic marker of that episode which was a birthmark on the left side of her body. Doctors couldn’t explain why this was the case so this led me on a journey to discover how stress impacts our health and wellbeing.
For 10 years, I researched and talked to various healthcare professionals and individuals to understand the need for people to navigate their health journey. A central element in each of these experiences was that there was no centralized place for people to find providers they wanted based on their condition and a strong lack of knowledge on how to approach their conditions. This led me to create MedxBay, a leading healthcare technology company in the UAE. With a focus on patient care and efficiency, MedxBay aims to revolutionize healthcare in the MENA region and Africa through innovative solutions.”
The Ins And Outs Of Yunche’s Role
We were curious to learn more about the daily responsibilities of Yunche Wilson and the challenges she overcame in her role. So, we asked, “What are the key responsibilities and challenges in your current role, and how do you manage them on a day-to-day basis?”
“Being a startup CEO is different from being a consultant or even a solopreneur. Here, I am constantly thinking about every aspect of the business; technology, operations, sales & marketing, finances, etc.
I try to focus on one area at a time as I learned very quickly that dividing my time across a bunch of different functions simultaneously versus time blocking to focus on each area individually, was not productive. This helps me stay focused and allows me to figure out what I need to delegate so I can work on the bigger picture.” She shared.
Staying Ahead Of The Curve
We further asked, “What emerging trends or innovations in your industry excite you the most, and why?”
Yunche replied, “AI is definitely at the top of this list. We are building our AI to work for both patients and providers to support them in optimizing care on our platform. AI in the healthcare space can truly help support healthcare providers to reduce misdiagnosis, identify an optimal care plan, and minimize admin work so they can focus on delivering care.”
Addressing Major Adversities
Challenges are a part of every business journey. To learn how Yunche Wilson overcame the same, we asked, “What major obstacles have you encountered in your career, and how did you successfully address and overcome them?”
She said, “Many of my obstacles throughout my career have been related to me not believing in myself enough. When I have had radical belief in my abilities, I excel easily. The moments I doubt myself or don’t feel qualified enough is when I have had the most issues.
Fear, of any kind, is a natural human emotion, and doubt in oneself is simply an extension of fear. Today, when I feel those emotions creeping in, I confront them and ask myself why I feel that way. Usually, I logic myself out of those feelings because I know what I am capable of. Other times, I just need to sit with those feelings meditate, and just allow them to pass. The key is to never let this be a permanent state and just be an observer of these feelings.”

Eager to learn more about the triumphs of MedxBay, we asked Yunche Wilson, “What accomplishment are you most proud of in your professional journey, and what impact did it have on your career or organization?”
“Honestly, the thing I am most proud of is learning how to prioritize myself. No job or career matters without my health and well-being. This used to be the reverse and it was the cause of so many of my health issues.
Learning how to love myself and prioritize my mental and physical well-being has been the greatest project of my life and I know I would not have been able to even begin building MedxBay had it not been for the lessons learned on my health journey. I’m proud that I can use all the skills I have acquired over the last 18 years to build a healthcare platform that not only caters to patients but to providers as well.” Yunche shared.
Essential Skills For Aspiring Professionals
To gather insights on the qualities essential to excel in this field, we inquired, “What essential skills or qualities do you believe are necessary for success in your field, and how can aspiring professionals develop them?”
She shared, “You have to be relentless. No one is going to buy into your vision more than you in the beginning. By nature, we flock to the things that others put value in, so you have to be your biggest cheerleader always.
Know that people will question you, your capabilities, your ideas, and even your vision. Remember that this vision was given to you for a reason, not someone else. Don’t be swayed by what others think you should be doing. Many successful businesses today were once startups that people said no to dozens of times such as Uber, Airbnb, and Ring, just to name a few.
Know that if you have done your research, developed a proper business plan, forecasted for the next 5 years, and are in an industry where you are fulfilling a real need, then you just need to keep going. Traction is all you need.”

“AI integration is inevitable across most industries, the key is developing it to scale based on your business needs.

“Long-term goals are to become the centralized healthcare resource for patients, providers, and medical suppliers across MENA and throughout Africa.
