She shared, “ I’ve spent 14 dynamic years in the UAE. It’s been characterized by growth, evolution, and a deep commitment to the hospitality industry and strategic HR management.
I embarked on this path with a solid foundation in the hospitality sector, having dedicated five years to front-of-house hotelier roles. The roles gave me a profound understanding of guest service, operational intricacies, and the essence of delivering exceptional customer experiences. This hands-on experience shaped my industry knowledge and laid the essential groundwork for my eventual transition into HR management.
My journey has enabled me to combine the best of both worlds—leveraging my understanding of the hospitality industry thru the people I worked with on a day-to-day basis and utilizing the strategic insights of HR management.
Over the past nine years, I’ve had the privilege of dedicating myself to HR management roles, overseeing functions for corporate entities and individuals spanning a diverse range of responsibilities- from talent acquisition and development to performance management, policy formulation, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Each experience has contributed to a comprehensive understanding of managing HR across various contexts. This diverse exposure has uniquely positioned me to navigate the complexities of HR across various departments and organizational structures.”

Evidenced by my contributions in spearheading initiatives like the “You Earned It” recognition program and orchestrating culture campaigns such as “We Care,” my dedication to cultivating positive work environments shines through. The transition from the hospitality sector to the dynamic oil and gas realm has emphasized the widespread importance of stakeholder engagement, meticulous compliance, and adept change management skills.

I actively engage in ongoing learning by attending prominent HR conferences, actively participating in insightful webinars, and maintaining subscriptions to reputable industry publications. I firmly believe that staying “current” equips me to integrate innovative HR strategies harmonizing with the industry’s dynamic trends.
My cross-industry experience has heightened the paramount importance of remaining well-informed. I continuously amplify my expertise by proactively participating in thought-provoking webinars, influential conferences, and expansive HR networks. This adaptability is further exemplified by my essential role in aligning HR strategies with the ever-shifting landscape of labor laws and Emiratization directives, distinctly illustrating the intricate interplay of HR across diverse sectors.”

Confronting challenges is an inevitable part of any career path. We asked, “Share some examples of a particularly challenging employee-related issue you’ve handled and how you resolved it?”
She replied, “One of the challenging employee-related issues, most of us have encountered during the COVID 19 pandemic, was navigating through its unprecedented impacts on our workforce. As the pandemic unfolded, it presented multifaceted trials that required an agile and empathetic response. The challenge was twofold: ensuring the well-being of our employees while maintaining and sustaining the business operations. The sudden transition to remote work and the uncertainty surrounding the situation impacted employee morale, engagement, and overall productivity.
To address this, I collaborated with the team on the implementation of comprehensive remote work policies and a rotation system with the operations. Clear and transparent communication was at the forefront of our strategy, ensuring employees understood the rationale behind certain changes implemented and how this aligned with our commitment to their safety not just at work but also at home. Our approach wasn’t just about policies but about promoting a sense of unity and resilience within the workforce.
Listening with empathy played a vital role throughout this process. Recognizing employees’ challenges, we established dedicated channels for open dialogue and support. Regular virtual check-ins, wellness initiatives, and providing resources to facilitate remote work effectively were all part of our rounded response. We’ve looked after their wellness and welfare.

The principle remains constant, build people so they can build your business whether in hospitality or in oil and gas, or any other industry.”

Seamlessly aligning organizational structure, designing a robust compensation framework, and streamlining HR processes for both oil and gas and specialized services took much work. Leveraging my hospitality expertise, I bridged the gap between these sectors. This involves mapping the hierarchy, aligning roles with our objectives, and creating a comprehensive compensation framework that caters to our specialized needs and industry standards. This highlights our commitment to nurturing a thriving workforce.
Advanced HR System Implementation through ESG Platform:
I oversee advanced HR system implementation using the ESG platform. This reflects our dedication to technology-driven employee experiences and streamlined HR operations. Creating a centralized HR system accessible to all employees and offered to partners as a back office shared services, regardless of division or location, was a challenge. Enhancing the ESG platform, we provide comprehensive HR services digitally. Customized for diverse needs, employees manage HR services electronically, reducing administrative burdens and empowering them. This initiative cultivates an engaged, productive workforce, showcasing ESG’s commitment to innovation and optimized HR practices.

“How have your experiences as an employee shaped your approach as an HR Leader?”
She replied, “My time as an employee has influenced my role as an HR Manager. Through personal experiences in various positions, I’ve gained valuable insights into the employee perspective. This insight allowed me to shape HR strategies that connect with our workforce, raising engagement, motivation, and loyalty.
By keeping the employee’s viewpoint in mind, we created an environment that supports professional growth, well-being, and overall job satisfaction.
