Beginnings First

We started the interview by asking, “Could you start by telling us about your career path?”

Araj responds, “My career path has been an unconventional yet enriching journey marked by resilience and diverse experiences. At 14, I made an odd decision to leave school, a pivotal moment that ignited my entrepreneurial drive. This decision propelled me into organizing small tournaments at 16, where I began honing my business acumen.

However, the road to entrepreneurship wasn’t a direct one. I embraced various odd jobs – from retail and security to assisting as an event usher – each offering invaluable lessons in adaptability and resourcefulness.

My professional growth took a significant turn at 19 when I secured an internship at an aviation school. This opportunity served as a launchpad, exposing me to aviation and marketing. Over time, I navigated through diverse roles within the aviation sector, honing a  unique skill set that blended industry experience with marketing insights.”

He added, “By age 21, I found myself leading the aviation school, a role that demanded strategic decision-making and leadership. Despite my success in aviation, my entrepreneurial spirit yearned for new challenges, leading me to initiate VMenu – a visionary project to revolutionize the F&B industry through technology and data-driven solutions.

However, the pandemic brought unforeseen challenges, forcing a halt to VMenu due to the heavy impact on the F&B sector. However, adversity sparked innovation. This setback led to the evolution of VMeals – a tangible F&B project arising from the ashes of F&B technology.”

Spark Behind The Journey

We were intrigued to learn about the factors and situations that influenced Araj Hassan’s current position. So, we asked, “What inspired you to develop the idea of your company?”

Araj shared, “Each step, from leaving school early to navigating various industries and founding innovative  ventures, has contributed significantly to my entrepreneurial journey and has been a driving force in shaping my expertise and resilience in the face of challenges.”

Optimizing Operational Efficiency

Businesses tend to transform their priorities over time. So, we asked, “How have your priorities in business evolved since you first started?”

He shared, “At the outset, our primary focus centered on tapping into the burgeoning healthy food industry, especially in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as our business gained traction, our priorities evolved toward fostering long-term sustainability, elevating the caliber of our products and services, and innovating technology to enrich customer experiences and optimize operational efficiency. Our ability to adapt has been instrumental; it has empowered us to pivot swiftly and realign our objectives following dynamic market demands.”

Adaptability Amidst Challenges

Regardless of the industry, businesses face hurdles and challenging phases. We asked, “What are the most challenging situations your company overcomes?”

Araj responds, “As a startup, navigating through unforeseen challenges has been integral to our journey. Initially, securing funds posed a significant hurdle as our company has been a bootstrapped endeavor. The evolution of challenges was constant – from sustaining burgeoning operations and streamlining our meal plans’ production and delivery to acquiring top-tier talent.

Identifying and implementing the right technology to support our business operations and marketing strategies became a pivotal challenge. However, our team’s resilience shone through. Despite enduring sleepless nights and operating round-the-clock, we confronted each challenge head-on.

Recently, our focus has shifted towards heavy investment in technology to propel our aim of franchising and expanding the business internationally. This transition has brought forth new challenges, which we are actively strategizing and tackling to pave the way for our global growth.”

We asked, “What’s the key strength to overcome it?”

Araj continued, “Honestly, the key strength to any challenge is resilience and perseverance. If you can see  through, believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel, keep your head down, and push  through; there’s no challenge you can’t overcome.”

He shared, “Our company stands out within the industry due to our unwavering commitment to customer centricity and technological innovation. We prioritize offering customers unparalleled flexibility, allowing them to personalize their plans with maximum customization options. Furthermore,  our imminent tech platform represents a pivotal milestone in revolutionizing the meal plan industry. It promises customers a seamless, hassle-free experience in purchasing and managing their meal plans, setting a new standard for convenience.

Above all, our dedication to prioritizing the customer’s needs is ingrained in our ethos. We pride  ourselves on being the most customer-centric company in the industry, ensuring that every decision and action revolves around placing the customer’s satisfaction and convenience at the  forefront of our operations.”

To learn more about the measures adopted by Araj Hassan to estimate his business growth, we asked, “What KPIs do you use to measure your business growth?”

He replied, “Our company employs a comprehensive set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to gauge and measure our business growth. These KPIs encompass a spectrum of vital metrics, including revenue generation, website traffic analysis, social media engagement metrics, visitor-to-lead conversion rates, lead-to-customer conversion rates, customer retention, and churn rates.

This multifaceted approach allows us to evaluate our performance holistically across various facets,  enabling strategic decision-making and a robust understanding of our business’s trajectory.”

Araj shared, “Our primary focus is testing and implementing our cutting-edge tech platform, a significant milestone that will revolutionize our service offerings. Simultaneously, we’re dedicated to refining and stabilizing our marketing tactics to ensure optimal reach and engagement.

Furthermore, in line with our strategic growth plans, we are intensifying our marketing efforts across diverse channels. Additionally, we are excited about our upcoming collaborations with international clothing and nutrition supplement brands. These collaborations aim to amplify our  market presence and fortify our position within the industry, signaling our commitment to  expanding our market share.”

It is equally essential to offer employees a healthy and positive work environment and build strong cooperation among them. So, we asked, “How do you build trust with your employees and boost productivity without causing  burnout?”

As our F&B startup transitions into the tech industry, this evolution entails significant changes that occasionally strain our team’s work-life balance.

To counterbalance these challenges, we adopt a holistic approach, emphasizing diligent work and fostering a closely-knit team dynamic. We navigate these transitions by engaging in various activities, ranging from  rejuvenating mini-vacations to wellness retreats.”

“These experiences reinforce our team’s cohesion and resilience amidst change. We proactively mitigate burnout by offering comprehensive training programs, engaging team-building activities, and flexible work arrangements. This multifaceted strategy ensures our team’s well-being and sustained  productivity during this transformative phase.” Araj added.

He replied, “Continuous learning is vital. We allocate time for research and industry conferences, engage  with experts, and foster a culture encouraging employees to share knowledge and insights.”
