We started the interview by asking, “Which career path led you to where you are today?”
Ilyas Mohammed shared, “In 1991, after completing my studies, I started working with a technology company as a Sales Executive selling Personal Computers. And since then, I have been associated with the technology industry. Over the years, I have worked with various technology companies and grown from strength to strength.
Today, I lead the Middle East region’s first enterprise B2B marketplace for cybersecurity, AmiViz, from the front as the Chief Operating Officer. The proudest moment for me in my entire career has been when AmiViz was named amongst the 30 Best Workplaces in the Technology sector in the GCC by Great Place to Work.”

He shared, “AmiViz has been a pioneer in technology, and we were the first enterprise B2B marketplace for cybersecurity in the Middle East and Africa. We have revolutionized the technology distribution industry by automating processes and using AI in our platform to provide a seamless customer experience. The launch of the AmiViz app has further consolidated our position and made us stand out.
On the other hand, we have been acknowledged for introducing advanced niche technologies, which international research organizations highly rate. We have successfully sourced and brought such technologies to the region.”
He continued, “Usually, it used to take 5 years for any successful product launched in the USA to reach the MEA market, but today we have reduced this gap considerably and ensured that both public and private organizations in the region are at par with the best technologies in the world. And we intend to continue to march in the same direction too.”

He replied, “As an enterprise B2B marketplace, our primary focus is customer satisfaction, and we walk the extra mile to ensure that our customers meet their expectations.
Apart from customers, we work closely with channel partners spread across the Middle East and Africa region and technology vendors from across the globe. And in this equation, every partner and vendor has unique requirements and goals. To achieve smooth sailing and meet every vendor and channel partner’s different requirements, we have carefully created a business model that allows our team to align with each partner and vendor to work in the same direction and ensure decent margins for all of us.”
