Abdulla AlShehhi, the renowned Abbott World Marathon Majors (WMM) winner from Ras Al Khaimah, has elevated the Emirati spirit of perseverance and resolve to unprecedented levels.
The World Marathon Majors (WMM) is a points-based championship competition for marathon runners that is based on six major marathon races that are considered to be the most prestigious in the world. These races take place in the cities of Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York.
AlShehhi, who just finished the Boston Marathon, credits his achievement to an eight-year journey during which he overcame all obstacles to win the coveted “Six Star Finisher Medal.”
“My experience is proof of the strength of aspirations, drive, and an unwavering spirit that doesn’t let obstacles get in the way,” AlShehhi remarked.
“My family and community’s unwavering support has fuelled this journey of mental and emotional fortitude.” Their support has been my guiding light through the darkest times, motivating me to never give up.
AlShehhi’s journey commenced more than 15 years ago, when he underwent a drastic change in response to a sobering realization regarding his health and future. AlShehhi, who was fighting excess weight that was acting as a physical and psychological anchor, said he knew it was time to make a change in his life.
