Global Polio Eradication

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emerged as a beacon of hope in the global fight against polio, thanks to the leadership and vision of its President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, the country’s Health and Prevention Minister, highlighted this achievement on World Polio Day.

The World Health Organisation, along with other international bodies, has commended the UAE for its instrumental role in striving to eliminate polio, emphasizing its contribution to a healthier future for children across the globe.

Al Owais emphasized that the UAE’s dedication to eradicating polio mirrors its broader commitment to sustainable growth and the prosperity of future generations. He further affirmed the nation’s support for the World Health Organisation’s goal to put an end to polio by the end of this decade.
