The floating book fair, which has been sailing worldwide, is back in the UAE, and hence now Ras Al Khaimah is welcoming bibliophiles along with its passageways.
It had been around 10 years since MV Logos Hope visited the country. When the last time it was here in 2013, it brought around 5,000 English and Arabic books, and now it promises a big heap of new titles and a host of cultural performances.
The fair will be going on in the emirate till April 16 before heading to other parts of the country, and that is why the book lovers in Ras Al Khaimah have been sailing through the shelves and piles of books aboard the ship from April 11.
MV Logos Hope is set to sail to Dubai next week and open its passageways in the emirate from April 18 to 23. On May 17, it will dock in Abu Dhabi, where it will stay till June 4. Visitors can buy tickets on-site for Dh15.
Conducted by GBA Ships, MV Logos Hope is an international charitable organisation registered in Germany. Since 1970, the organisation has welcomed around 49 million travellers in approximately 150 countries and territories worldwide.
The ship just came from a successful run on its first-ever visit to Basra, Iraq, where it dispersed cheer and knowledge to around 90,000 book lovers.
For the ship, crew, and volunteers worldwide, the main aim is to offer books at low prices and ” to share help, knowledge and hope in every port they visit”.
