Israel strikes four relatives of a reporter, according to Lebanon, and Hezbollah promises retaliation

The official Lebanese news agency said that an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon on Sunday claimed the lives Israel strikes four relatives of  relatives of a journalist, along with the journalist’s injuries.

Since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war, which was sparked by the Palestinian group’s October 7 bombings, there have been frequent gunfire exchanges along the border between the two nations, especially between Israel and Hezbollah, an organization supported by Iran.

The four victims, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), are the three grandkids, ages 10, 12, and 14, of radio correspondent Samir Ayoub’s sister.

When they were killed, they were in another car, following the journalist’s car.
Later, wearing a bloodstained shirt, Ayoub made an appearance on the local television channel Al-Jadeed where he talked about rescuing his niece, the only one of the five occupants in the automobile, from the vehicle.
Prime Minister Najib Mikati said that drones had targeted the automobiles in the strike and condemned it as a “abhorrent crime committed by the Israeli enemy.”

Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib was quoted by the foreign ministry on X, formerly Twitter, as saying that he would raise the issue before the UN Security Council on Monday.
The influential Hezbollah movement in Lebanon claimed shortly after the event that it had responded to this “heinous crime” by firing Katyusha rockets into the town of Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel.
