The Indian film industry mourns the loss of acclaimed director Sanjay Gadhvi, renowned for his work on the hit ‘Dhoom’ series. Family friend Raju Vasani confirmed the saddening news of his passing. Gadhvi suffered a massive cardiac arrest during his morning walk in the Lokhandwala Complex area of Bombay and was declared dead upon his arrival at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

The film fraternity is shaken by the untimely demise of the filmmaker who brought a new dimension to action thrillers in Indian cinema. Filmmaker Kunal Kohli expressed his grief on X, reminiscing about their shared memories at Yash Raj Films, where they collaborated closely. “This is beyond shocking. #SanjayGadhvi RIP never thought I’d have to write your obituary,” Kohli wrote, reflecting on the profound personal and professional loss.

Yash Raj Films, the production house behind ‘Dhoom’ and ‘Dhoom 2’, took to their X handle to honor Gadhvi, stating, “The magic he created on screen will be cherished forever. May his soul rest in peace. #SanjayGadhvi”.

Gadhvi’s directorial journey began with ‘Tere Liye’ in 2000, and he quickly gained fame with the release of ‘Dhoom’ in 2004. His repertoire included other notable films like ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’, ‘Kidnap’, and ‘Ajab Gazabb Love’. His most recent work was ‘Operation Parindey’, an OTT release in 2020.

Sanjay Gadhvi’s contribution to Indian cinema, especially his vision in action movie making, will be remembered and missed. His passing leaves behind a legacy of films that have entertained and thrilled audiences across the nation.
