India: In the previous day, five people died from COVID-19

Five Covid-related deaths have been reported in India in the previous 24 hours, according to the National Centre for Disease Control’s (NCDC) Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP). Up until January 2, 2024, 511 occurrences of the JN.1 series variant had been documented from 11 states.

In the past 24 hours, over 600 new cases have been reported; as of today, the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that there are 45,015,136 cases overall.

At 4,440 cases, there were 125 fewer cases active than there were on Tuesday. In the past 24 hours, almost 722 persons have recovered, bringing the overall number of recovered cases to 44,477,272. According to the state-by-state distribution, Kerala had two fatalities in the previous day. The deceased have been identified as a 79-year-old woman with coronary artery disease (CAD), type 2 diabetes, and sepsis; and a 66-year-old man with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), sepsis, and chronic liver disease.

One Covid fatality was reported in Karnataka in the previous day. A 45-year-old Vijayanagari man with hypertension (HTN) passed away as a result of COVID.

One Covid fatality was reported from Punjab. The individual who passed away, who was 62 years old, had lung damage, MODS, and pulmonary kochs.
