In relation to a security breach in parliament on Thursday, when a man leaped into the chamber, yelled slogans, and detonated a smoke canister, Indian police have charged four individuals with terrorism.
On Wednesday, the 22nd anniversary of an attack on the parliament complex that left over a dozen people dead, including five attackers, a significant security breach took place.
Opposition MPs yelled demands that the interior minister address the event on Thursday.
“Every possible precaution will be taken going forward,” Defense Minister Rajnath Singh declared to the legislature, which was briefly adjourned on Thursday due to agitation from the opposition . Eight security staff have been suspended in relation to the breach, according to a spokesman for the parliament. In response to a request from the parliament, the interior ministry of India began an investigation.
On condition of anonymity, a security official stated that all units in charge of overseeing the security of the parliament have been called to a meeting on Thursday.
Legislators informed regional media outlets that the man who leaped into the lower house chamber, along with a companion who attempted to trail him, had yelled phrases such as “dictatorship won’t be accepted”. The media was informed by the families of four suspects that they were frustrated with their extended inability to obtain employment.
