In Some Parts of the UAE, Heavy Rain and hail Provide Relief From the Summer Heat

Some parts of Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, are experiencing heavy showers and hail as a relief from the intense summer heat, according to a social media post made by the National Centre of Meteorology on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m.

The UAE has been experiencing extremely high temperatures; on Tuesday, the nation’s record high temperature was 50.8°C. The NCM states that this was captured at 3:45 PM local time on July 9. Given the weather, the Abu Dhabi Police have urged drivers to exercise caution and follow the variable speed limit posted on signs and electronic information boards.

In the United Arab Emirates, sporadic summer showers are normal and typically persist until summer ends in September. Dr. Ahmed Habib of the NCM stated, “The  UAE is expecting rainfall in the next few weeks, as rain is standard during the summer months and typically lasts until September 23,” in a recent interview with Khaleej Times.

The country has seen a sharp increase in temperatures, with Tuesday seeing a new high of 50.8°C. The NCM states that this was recorded on July 9 at 3:45 p.m. local time.
