Stargazers might want to keep a look out for May’s full moon, known as the Flower Moon, which will rise on May 22 in the UAE’s night sky.
The ‘Flower Moon’ name comes from the fact that this phenomenon usually occurs around the time when flowers bloom in many parts of the world.
Residents of Dubai will be able to view the Flower Moon without the use of binoculars or telescopes because of its extraordinary brightness.
The best time to take pictures of the Moon is when it is rising.
According to Hasan Al Hariri, CEO of Dubai Astronomy Group, “the rising of the moon is the ideal time for photos.” For the best view of the Flower Moon, people are advised to head to a high point or locate an open area.
Some have dubbed it the Hare Moon, but other names for it are the Planting Moon and the Milk Moon.
However, Native American and Colonial American customs are the source of the well-known name “Flower Moon.”
Every full moon was given a name that reflected the season and natural cycles, according to Sarath Raj, Project Director of Amity Dubai Satellite Ground Station and AmiSat, Amity University Dubai. The full moon in May is known as the “Flower Moon” in observance of May, which is a month of rebirth and growth when flowers bloom all over the world.
