Travel experts Mark Frary moderated the session, “Looking Skyward for Innovation: How Technology is Disrupting Aviation,” which featured panelists from Cirium, IATA, AviationXLab, and Riyadh Air.
According to IATA research, international passenger traffic increased by 20 percent in March 2024 compared to the same month the previous year. Kashif Khalid, Regional Director, Africa & Middle East, IATA, says the aviation industry needs innovation to handle this huge increase in air traffic.
The digital identity program IATA One ID aims to improve and expedite passenger travel. The innovative system eliminates the need for numerous physical travel documents by combining various documents, including boarding passes, tickets, and passports, into a single digital token. IATA One ID offers a streamlined and effective identity management solution that improves security, streamlines check-in procedures, and enables smooth airport travel.
During the panel discussion, Kevin Hightower, Vice President of Product at Cirium, said that sharing data is essential to improving aviation industry efficiency and enabling it to meet growing demand. “That which is measured can be improved,” asserted Hightower. We will start to see the benefits today as we share more data across boundaries.
