Sunita Williams and Hazzaa AlMansoori

Excitement soared at the Sharjah International Book Fair as Nasa astronaut Sunita Williams and UAE’s first astronaut, Hazzaa AlMansoori, hinted that two Emirati astronauts might be part of an upcoming moon mission. The chat offered a sneak peek into the Artemis mission, a joint effort by the UAE Space Agency and Nasa that began in 2020, showcasing the nation’s active role in exploring outer space.

Artemis III, a significant chapter in the mission, plans to make history by bringing the first woman to the Moon. The surprise twist came as Williams and AlMansoori spilled the beans on the possible involvement of Emirati astronauts, Mohammad AlMulla and Nora AlMatrooshi, in this big lunar adventure.

The chat also stressed the Moon’s importance as a crucial step before venturing to Mars. Williams highlighted the need to set up a comfy home on the Moon first. The teamwork of countries like the UAE, Russia, Japan, and Europe took the spotlight, revealing the cool partnerships driving space exploration worldwide.

Williams confidently predicted that humans would be living and working on the Moon in the next 10 to 15 years. The last time we set foot on the Moon was way back in 1972, so this upcoming lunar journey is a pretty big deal!

The talk got real about the hurdles astronauts face when they return to Earth. AlMansoori spilled the beans on feeling all sorts of pressure and discomfort. They need to do lots of exercise and training to get used to Earth’s gravity again.

With everyone eagerly waiting for the Artemis mission outcomes, the possibility of Emirati astronauts joining the lunar crew adds a cool twist. It shows the UAE is making its mark in space, making us all look forward to the next chapter in the UAE’s awesome journey beyond our planet.
