Emirates said on Wednesday that it will begin operating a new daily route on June 3 from Dubai to Bogotá, the capital of Colombia.
The new services will create a historic first-ever connection between the northern portion of South America and the larger Middle East region and link Colombia with the United Arab Emirates.
With the addition of Bogotá, Emirates’ South American network will have four gateways in addition to its regularly scheduled routes to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Buenos Aires. In addition, this new location will expand the airline’s reach throughout the Americas, allowing it to service 19 locations in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia.
Emirates is slated to be the first airline to provide premium services on the well-traveled route between South Florida and Colombia. The daily services will connect Dubai and Bogotá via Miami.
Due to Bogotá’s high altitude, a layover is required, as there isn’t enough room for a nonstop flight from Dubai. Miami was chosen, according to the airline, because of its connections to Bogotá for trade and tourism.
