RIYADH: The third Children’s Recitation Challenge winners were revealed by the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language on Tuesday, with a total of prizes reaching SR200,000 ($53,344), according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Children between the ages of five and twelve were obliged to film a five-minute video clip of themselves reciting Arabic poetry texts, edit it, and post it on X (previously Twitter) with a designated hashtag.
Saad Mohammed Al-Khowaiter of Saudi Arabia took first place and received a prize of SR30,000; Musab Abdulrahman Abdulhamid of Morocco took second place and received a prize of SR25,000.
Third-place winner Ramadan Mahmoud Mohammed Abu Jazar of Palestine took home SR20,000, while winners in fourth through tenth place took home SR10,000. Individuals who placed 11th to 15th were awarded SR5,000, while those who placed 16th to 30th were given SR3,000.
Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Syria, Algeria, Yemen, Jordan, Morocco, Sudan, and the United States were among the nations represented among the winners.
The Children’s Recitation Challenge seeks to increase the number of young people who speak Arabic, spread its use on interactive platforms, and increase the presence of the language among children.
