Abu Dhabi Threatens Businesses That Break the Terms of their Contracts with Social Media Influencers with Steep Fines

When hiring social media influencers, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has urged all licensed economic establishments operating in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to adhere to all applicable regulations and terms.

The ADDED expressed gratitude in a circular on Thursday for all licensed businesses in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for their efforts to develop and foster the best possible business environment in the Emirate. As a result, ADDED demanded that all authorized businesses in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi follow these guidelines:

-The requirement that social media influencers apply for a department license in order to engage in the business of advertising services on websites

– The requirement that businesses obtain an ADDED permit before running any kind of marketing, promotion, or advertising;

Economic establishments must verify that they possess a valid license issued by ADDED prior to entering into agreements with influencers and social media platforms. Failure to adhere to the regulations and guidelines when hiring social media influencers will subject the business in question to the fines and infractions listed in the table of violations. It will also put the business at risk of closure because it will not follow the guidelines and directives provided by ADDED.
