Fresh Speed Limit

From June 7, Abu Dhabi will implement a new speed limit on Umm Yafina Street from

Al Reem Island to Sheikh Zayed Road

(Al Qurum).

On Monday, the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police declared the change in amalgamation with the Integrated Transport Centre. It said the new signboards suggesting the latest speed limit have been installed.

Moreover, the authorities called on motorists to stick to the new signs specified in Umm Yafina Street from Al Reem Island to Sheikh Zayed Street( Al Qurum) in both directions, which will come into effect from Wednesday, June 7, 2023. However, Abu Dhabi Police has not specified in the social media post that the speed limit will be increased or decreased.

The changes have been made to improve traffic safety. According to the authorities, reducing speed limits can help in the improvement of traffic safety and also prevent accidents. Motorists are urged to watch their speed and stick to all traffic rules and regulations.

The speed limit on Sweihan Road of Abu Dhabi – from Al Falah Bridge towards Abu Dubai International Airport has been revised. Hence, from June 4, the new speed limit was set up, which was reduced from 140 km to 120 mph.

From May 1, Abu Dhabi also implemented a minimum speed of 120kmph on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road and a fine of Dh400 to the violators. Officials explained that the maximum speed on this major highway would be 140kmph, and the minimum rate of 120kmph shall be applied on the first and second lanes from the left.

Slower vehicles can take the third lane, where no minimum speed is specified. However, the police stress that heavy vehicles, which should use the last name of the road, will not be covered by the minimum speed rule.
