Abu Dhabi has successfully grown live cells from camel embryos in a lab setting for the first time. The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority has made a groundbreaking scientific discovery by removing these cells from camel embryos’ muscle tissue and organs.
According to the authority on X, this will facilitate significant advancements in “treating diseases, understanding viral infection mechanisms, and enhancing camel diagnostic methods.”
According to the authority, studies on the cell biology of camel tissues and the “interactions with drugs, antivirals, and other chemicals” that occur in these cells will be possible.
This innovation is credited to the ADAFSA Collaborating Centre for Camel Diseases, which oversees the Middle East Camel Network, which has nine member nations.
As per ADAFSA, this development will aid in diagnosing viral diseases related to camels and help in the production of proteins and vaccination.
