Hundreds of people from the Church of South India (CSI) Parish, Abu Dhabi participated in a prayer service at their own building in the city, marking the end of a 45-year wait.
As part of a religious event commemorating the facility’s soft opening, choir groups, worshippers, priests, and the bishop surrounded the new 12,000 square foot church structure in Abu Mureikha. The sounds of prayer, “hallelujah…praise the lord,” filled the air.
Despite having their first service in April 1979, the CSI congregation has always met at St. Andrew’s Church due to a lack of a permanent location. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan donated 4.37 acres of land in Abu Mureikha, where the CSI followers in Abu Dhabi now have their own facility after 45 years.
The members of CSI, Abu Dhabi, have been yearning for a place of worship for the past forty-five years. Everything they need is supplied for by God. I express my gratitude to the nation’s leaders for their readiness to donate almost 4 acres of land for the construction of a Christian church. The kings are God’s means of providing a place of worship. It demonstrates the religious tolerance of the bishop Dr Cherian said.
