In the first ten months of 2023, Dubai welcomed approximately 13.9 million foreign visitors, up from 11.4 million in the same period the previous year, a 22% increase, and 13.5 million in the same period in 2019, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, a 3% increase.
The average hotel occupancy rate across all Dubai-operating businesses was 76%, up from 71% in 2022 and 74% in 2019. This indicates that, despite a notable growth in hotel supply, there is still a high demand for hotel establishments in the city.
The length of stay of guests at the end of October this year recorded 3.8 hotel nights compared to 4 nights in the same period in 2022. The data indicates that the number of nights (booked rooms) reached about 34.2 million overnight stays, compared to about 30.4 million overnight stays in the corresponding period, an increase of 12.5%. According to the data, India emerged as the top export market for foreign visitors to Dubai between January and October of this year, with approximately 1.99 million visitors—a 39% increase—compared to the same period in 2022. The United Kingdom followed in second place with approximately 954 thousand visitors—also showing growth.
With roughly 582,000 visitors from the US, Dubai ranked sixth. China followed in seventh place with roughly 522,000 visitors, growing by 278%; Germany ranked eighth with 453,000 visitors, growing by 46%; Iran ranked ninth with approximately 333 thousand visitors, growing by 22%; and Pakistan ranked tenth with roughly 286 thousand visitors, declining by 6%.
