The 2-hour Reduction in Working Hours During Ramadan In the UAE Began on Monday.

According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), the number of work hours will be cut by two hour during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The decision will take effect on Monday (March 11, 2024).

Companies can follow flexible or remote work schedules throughout Ramadan, subject to the daily working hours and the nature of the work.

During Ramadan, private sector employees’ working hours will be shortened by two hours per day, and any additional hours performed beyond the reduced schedule will be deemed overtime and will be compensated accordingly.

The working hours resolution will be implemented for fasting and non-fasting personnel, facilitating their participation in spiritual activities and cultural customs throughout Ramadan.

MoHRE stated that during the holy month of Ramadan, all ministries and federal agencies will work from 9 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, working hours will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., unless the task requires otherwise.
