Abu Dhabi Hears the Case of a Terrorist Group That Intended to Cause Mayhem and Murder in the UAE

Case No. (87) of 2023 State Security, in which several people and organizations are charged with creating and running a terrorist organization as well as money laundering earnings from the formation and establishment of a covert terrorist organization, was heard by the Abu Dhabi Federal Appeals Court on Wednesday.

All of the accused were present when the court heard the Public Prosecution Side’s plea during the lengthy, over five-hour hearing. The prosecution’s witness provided proof of the defendants’ guilt in the case, including written records, audio and video recordings, and technical reports that demonstrated the defendants’ involvement in the crimes of founding and running a terrorist organization.

In its pleas, the prosecution reaffirmed that this case is entirely distinct from Case No. 79 of the 2012 State Security Act and does not involve the accused being retried. The prosecution cited the evidence presented in the public session to support this claim. This evidence included statements and confessions made by the defendants that aligned with the State Security Apparatus’s investigations, as well as the testimonies and reports of media experts assigned to monitor and analyze the defendants’ electronic and media activity, as well as the content of their blogs and tweets that they published as part of the organization’s action plan.
