Participation of Mediclinic Middle East in the 2024 Organ Donation and Transplantation Congress

The Congress aimed to discuss the most recent developments in this specialized field of medicine and to increase awareness of the UAE’s national organ donation program, Hayat. Experts in transplant surgery from all around the world attended.

Presenting the accomplishments of Mediclinic City Hospital, one of the top kidney transplant centers in the United Arab Emirates, were Dr. Waldo Concepcion, a consultant transplant surgeon, and Dr. Farhad Janahi, a consultant urologist, on behalf of Mediclinic Middle East. Mohammed Bin Rashid University (MBRU) and Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital are strong and supportive partners of the transplant center at Mediclinic City Hospital. Together, the teams make a big contribution to bringing transplants to the forefront of healthcare, raising public awareness of the country’s legislation regarding organ donation and transplantation, and ensuring that the service is accessible to all UAE citizens and residents.

Patients with end-stage renal illness have a better quality of life thanks to the transplant center at Mediclinic City Hospital, which offers an alternative to dialysis. The unit performs kidney transplants from deceased and living donors, allowing families to consider being live kidney donors. From the first consultation to actualizing donation or transplant and beyond, the transplant team offers prospective transplant recipients and donors high-quality, all-encompassing, and interdisciplinary care.
