Violence Flares Up In Gaza, Where The Death Toll Rises.

Health officials in Gaza, which is ruled by Hamas, announced a rising death toll on Saturday, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has come under growing domestic fire, turned down calls for “Palestinian sovereignty” following the war.

As violence raged throughout the constrained Gaza Strip, worries of a broader conflict increased due to an attack in Syria that was attributed to Israel and missiles fired at coalition forces commanded by the United States in Iraq.

According to Gaza’s health ministry, at least 165 Palestinians have died in the preceding 24 hours, which is more than twice as many as on Friday.

Gunfire, airstrikes, and tank shelling were reported by an AFP correspondent, primarily in Khan Yunis city in southern Gaza.

A strike that “targeted a civilian car” claimed the lives of at least five individuals in Rafah, which is located further south and close to the Egyptian border, according to the health ministry.

Following the army’s announcement in early January that the terrorists’ leadership system in northern Gaza had been dismantled, leaving only lone fighters, Israel is advancing southward against Hamas.

However, as Israel’s military said that troops supported by air and naval support were hitting fighter infrastructure throughout the Palestinian enclave, Hamas reported intense fighting in north Gaza.
