Flight to Dubai is six hours late when a passenger opens the cabin door and falls 20 feet to the tarmac.

While the aircraft was at the gate, a passenger opened a cabin door and plummeted 20 feet to the runway, causing an almost six-hour delay on an Air Canada trip from Toronto to Dubai.

Responding to a complaint at approximately 9 p.m. on Monday, local officials in Canada stated that a man had “opened an aircraft door and fallen out onto the tarmac while the aircraft was at the gate and boarding.”

After suffering minor injuries in the fall, the person was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The man was apprehended by the police when it was discovered during an investigation that he was in a “state of crisis” at the time of the incident.

According to a Toronto Pearson International Airport representative, airport officials were made aware of the event on Monday night and worked closely with the airline to “support and determine the immediate needs.”
