Dubai: On the first day of the New Year, the Jebel Ali temple welcomes 40,000 worshippers.

On the first day of the New Year, the Jebel Ali temple attracted 40,000 worshippers, demonstrating the increasing involvement of the population in spiritual practices.

The general manager of Hindu Temple Dubai in Jebel Ali, Mohan Narasimhamurthy, reported a notable increase in attendance—more than 12,000 more devotees than the year before.

We welcomed between 28,000 and 29,000 people the previous year. There was a noticeable increase in the number of devotees visiting the temple this year—between 10,000 and 12,000 more people came. We were able to make sure that every devotee was satisfied, so the day was successful.

He clarified that every attempt was made to manage several lines, including those for single people, families, and a wider family line that held space for people 80 years of age and older, people with disabilities (PODs), expectant moms, and mothers of small children.

From morning till dusk, there was a steady stream of 1,800–2,000 people every hour. We’ve exceeded 25,000 devotees’ attendance on important occasions more than 29 or 30 times in a single day.”

On those days, a sizable number of volunteers help out. Inside the premises, family lineups include holding rooms designed to make visitors feel comfortable as they wait to join the main prayer hall. “Our primary concern is safety,” he stated.
