UAE launches three water desalination plants to supply Gaza with drinking water

In the presence of various members of UN Security Council member states, Ambassador Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs and Permanent Representative to the UN, officially opened three water desalination plants in Gaza , Rafah, Egypt.

As part of the UAE’s humanitarian effort to lessen the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Strip, the facilities are intended to supply the Gaza Strip with the water it needs for drinking.

This was said while a UN delegation was visiting the Rafah Crossing on the United Arab Emirates’ initiative and in collaboration with the Arab Republic of Egypt.

As part of the United Arab Emirates’ ‘Noble Knight 3′ humanitarian effort, water desalination plants have been established in the Egyptian city of Rafah. The purpose of this initiative is to improve Gaza’s terrible water infrastructure and guarantee that the Palestinian people have access to clean drinking water.

Approximately 600,000 gallons of seawater are processed daily by the three new desalination plants, which will supply 300,000 people with safe drinking water via a network of pipelines that runs throughout the Gaza Strip. The citizens’ access to safe and clean drinking water will be greatly improved by this.

On November 5, 2023, the United Arab Emirates initiated the ‘Noble Knight 3’ humanitarian operation with the aim of extending aid to the Palestinian population in Gaza. A field hospital, water desalination units, and more than 7,126 tons of food, medicine, and relief supplies were transported by 105 aircraft that the UAE sent.
