LONDON: Downing Street said that officials Senior UK British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak met with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, the emir of Qatar, on Friday during the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai.
He expressed his gratitude to the emir for Qatar’s crucial contribution to the humanitarian pause in Gaza that resulted in the liberation of numerous hostages and the essential delivery of further aid.
The leaders expressed their sincere regret for the breakdown and emphasized the significance of continuing efforts to secure the release of all hostages and guarantee that aid reaches Gaza’s needy citizens.
“We must work toward a two-state solution which guarantees the security and prosperity of both Israelis and Palestinians,” stated the prime minister in reference to the long-term.
He restated that Hamas had shown it could not be a peace partner and could not survive in Gaza.
During his meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan, Sunak also gave him the assurance that the UK will keep pushing Israel to uphold international humanitarian law and stop settler violence in the West Bank.
