Israel begins offensive operations in Gaza after the cease-fire comes to an end.

Israel begins offensive operations in Gaza after the cease-fire comes to an end.

As a truce expired without an agreement to prolong it, Israel’s military announced on Friday that it has resumed fighting in Gaza, with reports of artillery fire and airstrikes in Gaza City.

“Clashes between the Israel Defense Forces and Hamas in the Gaza Strip have resumed.

The military made the news soon after declaring that it had stopped a rocket fired from Gaza, the first from the region since a missile was fired just minutes into the cease-fire.

An AFP reporter inside Gaza claimed that Israeli jets launched several attacks and that artillery fire was heard in Gaza City.

For the first time since the ceasefire, drones were also audible over the southern portion of the region, according to an AFP reporter there.

The fighting broke out, shattering expectations of extending a seven-day truce during which Israel had released Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of scores of hostages.

More help could now reach the devastated Gaza Strip because to the truce.

Meeting with Israeli and Palestinian officials on Thursday, US Ambassador to the Middle East Antony Blinken demanded that the ceasefire be prolonged and cautioned that any restart of hostilities must protect civilians in the Palestinian territories.
