Fatwas symposium to take place at Prophet's Mosque

Arab News

RIYADH: The Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah will host a symposium on Fatwas symposium, according to royal clearance, according to Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, the head of religious affairs at the two holy mosques.

The conference will concentrate on decisions made at the two holy mosques and how they affect the ease with which people can attend the sites of worship. A fatwa is a legal ruling on a matter of Islamic law.

In line with the Kingdom’s moderate stance based on the Qur’an and the customs of the Prophet Muhammad, Al-Sudais stated that the symposium is an expansion of the Saudi government’s efforts to support the two holy mosques and spread their message to the globe.

According to him, the approval to host this symposium is in favor of the digitalization of fatwas and a change in the techniques used to issue them, which would better serve the religious needs of mosque guests and facilitate their performance of rites.

Al-Sudais continued, saying that King Salman’s consent for the symposium to be held demonstrated the Kingdom’s concern for fatwas because of its direct bearing on the Two Holy Mosques pilgrims.
