Hyderabad, Saturday: Veteran Telugu actor Chandra Mohan, aged 82, breathed his last on Saturday morning at 9:57 am after suffering a cardiac arrest at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad.
Jagan, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Apollo Hospital, confirmed the actor’s demise. The final farewell and last rites for Chandra Mohan, also known as Mallampalli Chandrasekhar Rao, are scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on Monday, November 13.
Chandra Mohan, born on May 23, 1943, in Pamidimukkala village in the Krishna region of Andhra Pradesh, made his debut in the Telugu film industry in 1966 with ‘Rangula Ratnam.’ His outstanding performance in the film earned him the Nandi Award for Best Actor from the state government.
The late actor left an enduring legacy in the Telugu film industry, featuring in notable films such as ‘Shankarabharanam,’ ‘Seethaamalakshmi,’ ‘Padaharella Vayasu,’ ‘Siri Siri Muvva,’ and ‘Chandamama Raave.’ His contributions earned him two Nandi Awards and one Filmfare Award South.
Chandra Mohan, a cousin of veteran director K Vishwanath, who received the Dada Sahab Phalke award, is survived by his wife, Jalandhara, and two daughters.
