The United Arab Emirates has announced that it will waive 50% of fines on certain land transport violations. The move is aimed at easing the financial burden on individuals and businesses who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The initiative, which was launched by the Ministry of Interior and the Federal Traffic and Licensing Authority, covers a range of traffic violations, including exceeding the speed limit, jumping a red light, and driving without a valid license or insurance. The 50% discount will apply to fines issued between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2020, and will be available until the end of 2021.

The waiver of fines is part of a wider package of measures aimed at supporting individuals and businesses during the pandemic. The UAE has already implemented a number of measures, including stimulus packages and loan deferrals, to mitigate the economic impact of the pandemic.

The move has been welcomed by drivers and transport companies in the UAE, who have been struggling to cope with the financial impact of the pandemic. Many businesses have seen their revenues decline sharply, and the waiving of fines will provide some much-needed relief.

The UAE has been working hard to keep its citizens and residents safe during the pandemic, implementing strict measures such as social distancing and mask-wearing. The waiving of fines on land transport violations is a further indication of the government’s commitment to supporting individuals and businesses during these challenging times.

In conclusion, the UAE’s decision to waive 50% of fines on certain land transport violations is a welcome move for individuals and businesses who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative is part of a wider package of measures aimed at mitigating the economic impact of the pandemic, and is a further indication of the government’s commitment to supporting its citizens and residents during these challenging times.
