Meet the AI Kids: The Virtual Students Turning Learning into Teaching at Crucifer Academy

The methodology combines learning-capacity admissions, an AI Kid teach-back assessment, reasoning-led labs and continuing industry input through WITT.

Crucifer Academy, part of Crucifer AI Technologies, has set out the Knowledge Guarantee, a training and lab methodology designed to change how technical learning is taught, assessed and demonstrated. The programme is under active build towards its first cohort.

At the centre of the model is the AI Kid: a curious avatar that each learner must teach after a module. In the proposed assessment, the Kid then sits an examination in the learner’s presence, answering on the basis of what that student has taught it. The Kid must pass before that assessment gate is cleared.

The wider framework makes demonstrated understanding, rather than elapsed time, the condition for progression. The programme is structured around six months but may take an individual nine or twelve months, with repeat teaching and additional support not billed as another round of tuition.

“We are not asking employers to trust that someone attended a course,” said Christopher Richard, founder of Crucifer AI Technologies. “We are building a model in which the learner must repeatedly show that they understand, can apply what they know and can explain their decisions.”

From learning capacity to demonstrated understanding

The proposed admissions model does not require a degree, coding experience or prior AI knowledge. English proficiency and an entrance assessment are required. One component uses an eight-minute explanation of a concept from a fictitious world to assess understanding and application, alongside separate tests of focus and short-term memory.

Teaching is designed to start from first principles, defining terminology and teaching prerequisites before relying on them. The delivery model includes live, studio-based instruction and classes capped at 30 learners.

Progression passes through four gates: a session assessment; games reinforcing vocabulary and application; teaching the AI Kid; and a final decision on whether the required steps have been completed and the module understood. Learners who have not met the standard return to the material with instructor support, recordings and additional question-and-answer sessions.

Reasoning before coding output

The practical labs follow THINK, LOCK, BUILD and EXPLAIN. Students first design responses to parts of a business problem without AI assistance. The instructor reviews and locks their designs, assembling them into a combined solution.

Learners may then use AI to implement that locked approach. Assessment centres on explaining the result: whether the solution worked, where it failed, why and what should change. The intention is to assess the learner’s reasoning rather than coding output alone.

An invitation to industry

WITT — Where Is The Talent? — is designed to provide continuing industry input through a council of practitioners, with quarterly feedback helping shape curriculum priorities around the capabilities employers need.

A separate talent-access route is intended to connect qualifying completers with employer interviews. Advisory participation and recruitment commitments are distinct. The Knowledge Guarantee is a learning-progression commitment, not a guarantee of employment.

Crucifer is inviting employers, industry advisers, HR and learning leaders, education innovators and investors to discuss the model and its development. These discussions will focus on how learning can be made relevant to industry and how understanding can be demonstrated in practice.

The company is presenting the learning design rather than claiming independently demonstrated graduate or hiring outcomes. Programme details may develop as the model is built and industry feedback is incorporated.
