Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that two days of trilateral talks among Ukraine, Russia, and the United States in Abu Dhabi ended with what he described as “constructive” discussions focused on possible frameworks to end the war.
The meetings mark the first known occasion where officials from the Trump administration have held direct talks with both Kyiv and Moscow as part of Washington’s renewed efforts to push for progress in ending Russia’s nearly four-year invasion of Ukraine.
“All sides agreed to brief their respective capitals on each element of the negotiations and to coordinate further steps with their leaders,” Zelensky said in a post on Telegram. He added that military representatives from the three countries identified key issues for a potential follow-up meeting, which could take place as early as next week.
Zelensky also noted a shared understanding on the importance of American monitoring and oversight in the process of ending the war and ensuring lasting security arrangements.
