We recently had the privilege of interviewing Maysam Magdy, CEO of Ibn Sina Training Academy. Shifting her career from psychiatry to business in the ed-tech sector brought a huge set of challenges, but Maysam overcame them all and excels in her position today.
Maysam is dedicated to making a profound impact on individuals’ lives by providing expert guidance and resources to career coaching models to unlock their full potential and secure better employment opportunities. Alongside, she empowers women with top-notch remote jobs, helping them thrive from the comfort of their homes.
In this insightful session, the CEO shares her career trajectory and highlights of her career along with the visions she has for the growth of the academy.
Spark Behind The Journey
We started the interview by asking, “What inspired you to pursue a career in your industry, and how did you get your start?”
Maysam shared “I noticed a gap in the medical localization market which was desperate to find qualified medical background linguists. So, I introduced a solution by providing a well-established program to qualify the medical community for the localization market. We expanded the vision to qualify professionals by using career coaching models to help them explore their potential and find better career jobs. We also empower women to find better careers remotely in the comfort of their homes.”
A Day At Maysam Magdy’s Workspace
We were curious to learn about the duties Maysam performs at her workspace. So, we asked, “Can you describe a typical day in your work life and highlight any key responsibilities?”
“We are an online dynamic company to support work-life balance. Especially, we are a female majority company, with 99% female workers. Moreover, we are focused on objectives and metric management. Being the CEO of the company, I am more into scaling our sales and penetrating new markets.” She replied.
Evolution In The Ed-tech Sector
We further asked, “How has your industry evolved since you began, and what significant changes do you foresee in the next 5-10 years?”
Maysam said, “Ed-techs were overlooked by investors, but recently we can see a big change in Education due to the presence of VCs that support new education ideas integrated with technology, and this is promising.”

Challenges are a part of every professional journey. To learn how Maysam Magdy overcame similar phases, we asked, “What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced in your career, and what strategies did you use to overcome them?”
She replied, “Transitioning my career in psychiatry to the business sector presented a significant challenge. Fortunately, I have exceptional mentors who have provided guidance and support throughout this journey, alongside constant learning, enabling me to navigate the complexities of this new field and achieve success.”

We were also interested to learn about the events that shaped Maysam Magdy’s career trajectory. So, we inquired, “Can you share any standout moments or experiences that have significantly shaped your professional path?”
“Our business has experienced unprecedented growth and jumped to over 7x sales and penetrated new markets. We are on track to reach 100K customers by the end of this year, which is a significant achievement for us.” Maysam shared.

Eager to learn how Maysam leads her team, we asked, “What is your leadership style, and how do you foster a positive and productive work environment for your team?”
She said, “As humans, mistakes are an inevitable part of us. However, it is crucial to learn lessons from those mistakes and never repeat them. Remember, never keep a bad apple, make sure that all of your team share the same work values and are vision-oriented.”
Embracing Technological Advancements
We asked, “What steps is your organization taking to integrate AI and other emerging technologies into its operations, and what impact do you expect them to have?”
Maysam replied, “We are integrating AI in all our operations and since automation, we tripled sales and succeeded in achieving cost reduction operations.”

We ended the interview by asking, “How do you plan to stay ahead of the competition in a rapidly changing market, and what are your long-term goals for your career and organization?”
“We are currently expanding in many regions, adding a lot of technologies in our system to help scale the business, and investing in our marketing strategies for best results.” Maysam concluded.
