For a round-trip ride on the Metro transit system, commuters’ Nol cards should have a balance of Dh15.
The Nol card, being a prepaid smart card, can be used to pay for public transport in Dubai, such as the Dubai Metro, buses, trams and waterbuses. It can also be used to cover the cost of parking, taxi fares, admission to public parks in Dubai, the Etihad Museum, and a host of other establishments including over 2,000 shops, eateries, and stores.
The minimum top-up for a Nol card at Metro station ticket offices will be Dh50 starting on August 17, up from Dh20, as announced on Friday by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on X. If commuters top off their cards online, this does not apply to them. Starting August 17, 2024, the minimum top-up at Metro station ticket offices will increase to AED 50,” the RTA stated in its post.
In January, RTA increased the minimum top-up from Dh5 to Dh20. Commuters should have a balance of Dh15 on their Nol card to cover a round trip on the Metro transit network.
