In the first half of this year, 4,379,258 worshippers and visitors visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in Abu Dhabi, a 31% increase from the same period last year. This figure comprised 2,584,425 visitors and 1,765,698 worshippers and fasting individuals. The jogging track saw 29,135 users.
There were 149,666 worshippers at the mosque on Fridays; 617,458 worshippers attended prayers during Ramadan and the two Eids, and 348,573 worshippers offered daily prayers.
The mosque recorded its highest attendance of 87,186 worshippers on the 27th day of Ramadan, 1445 AH (5th April), including 70,680 who observed the 27th night of Ramadan.
As part of the “Our Fasting Guests” project, the Centre prepared 2,150,000 iftar meals, 1.5 million distributed to Abu Dhabi’s labour cities and 650,001 served inside the mosque. Furthermore, 30,000 suhoor meals were provided throughout the last ten days of Ramadan.
With 81% of visitors from outside the United Arab Emirates and 19% from within, the Centre solidified its place on the map of international cultural tourism. By continent, Asia accounted for 52% of all visitors, with Europe coming in second at 34%, North America at 7%, Africa and South America at 3% apiece, and Australia at 1%.
