Since heavy to hefty rain is expected on Saturday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, asking people to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. In the Konkan region of Maharashtra, an orange alert has also been issued for Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts.
Mumbai saw heavy rain this morning, which resulted in waterlogging and traffic jams in a number of the city’s districts. For the past few days, heavy rains have hit Mumbai hard. The IMD reports that in the past 24 hours, the city has received 61.69 mm of rain.
Early in the morning, rain was also seen in nearby Noida. The national capital is expected to see sporadic rain showers on Saturday throughout the day, according to the IMD. According to the IMD, on Saturday and Sunday, clouds and a few light thunderstorms are predicted for Delhi and Noida.
According to the IMD, light rain was expected to persist in Delhi and Noida until July 17. The Yamuna River’s water levels are predicted to rise as a result of the rain in the upcoming days, which is why the authorities have sent out an alert to the citizens of the Noida villages located along the river’s banks. During the monsoon season of last year, these villages suffered severe flooding, which caused a great deal of inconvenience to the people residing in Delhi and Noida.
