Ram Buxani, an Elderly Indian Businessman, Dies in Dubai

The chairman of ITL Cosmos Group, Dr. Ram Buxani, passed away on Sunday in Dubai. He was in his eighties.

When he arrived in the UAE by ship in November 1959, when he was eighteen years old, he had only five rupees. Nevertheless, with unwavering dedication and hard work, he built his empire into a billion-dollar company.

In addition to being a well-known philanthropist and community leader who built his business empire from the ground up, Dr. Buxani also committed his time, resources, and money to charitable causes both domestically and overseas.

He was among the first few UAE businessmen to receive a Golden Visa for 2019.

In addition, he founded the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC), served as chairman of the Indian High School, and belonged to the India Club.

Dr. Buxani began his career in the ITL Cosmos Group at a middle rank and rose to become the group chairman. After assuming leadership, he aggressively expanded the group, focusing on the hospitality, IT, food and beverage, and other Emirates sectors.

Seeing Dubai change and evolve over the past few years has been quite the journey. Once bounded by dunes, the city has transformed into a center of technology and a mingling pot of cultures. “This nation has shown me such generosity,” he remarked in the interview.
