UAE Lowers Citizen Requirements for Home Loans

The number of documents that need to be approved will be reduced from ten to just two, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid declared.

With the launch of a new government initiative on Tuesday, the UAE is simplifying the home loan application process for Emiratis.

The UAE’s vice president, prime minister, and ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, declared that the government would “simplify and reduce” the processes.

Applicants will only need to deal with one entity rather than 11 different ones. According to Sheikh Mohammed, the number of documents that need approval will also be reduced from ten to just two.

The vice president of the UAE also declared that Dh1.68 billion in housing assistance for citizens has been approved. All told, 2,160 new homes for citizens will be covered by the amount granted under the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme.

The UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, which aims to reduce red tape and get rid of all unnecessary requirements and procedures, includes a simplified home loan application process.

The government announced in February that it would eliminate at least 2,000 procedures in a year and shorten processing times by six months.
