US-Backed Ceasefire Plan to End Israel-Hamas War is Endorsed by the UNSC.

To put the resolution into effect, Hamas declared that it was happy with its adoption and prepared to collaborate with intermediaries in indirect talks with Israel. Although it was one of Hamas’s strongest statements to date, it emphasized that the organization would keep fighting Israeli occupation and working to establish a “fully sovereign” Palestinian state.

We will continue until all of the hostages are returned and until Hamas’ military and governing capabilities are dismantled,” a senior Israeli diplomat told the council, failing to mention the resolution specifically. This also implies that Israel will not participate in pointless and never-ending talks, which Hamas may use to buy time,” stated Minister Counsellor Reut Shapir Ben Naftaly.

She claimed that by passing the resolution, Hamas was “clearly informed to accept the cease-fire deal on the table.”

If Hamas followed suit, the fighting could end today. To the council, Thomas-Greenfield stated. “This fighting could end today,” I reiterate.

Reporters were earlier informed by US Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood that the US views the agreement as “the best, most realistic opportunity to bring at least a temporary halt to this war.
